What class members say
It is a joy to be in Tracy's "Modified Yoga with the ball" class! She is an excellent and fun teacher, and I am learning so much from her. As my PT, she recommended I take this class to help with chronic back pain. Because of the work we are doing in the class, my strength and flexibility are increasing, which is helping to decrease the pain. I always leave the class feeling very encouraged.— C.K. Tracy's yoga classes at Root are amazing. I have worked with Tracy for physical therapy for some time, and she has been one few people to effectively address my chronic pain. Her intuition and knowledge of the body are incredible. She applies her PT knowledge to her yoga classes, so you are not just receiving instruction, but masterful cues and insight on poses, movement and alignment. Tracy has such a warm and loving personality, everyone feels welcomed, and the group is consistent, so a community has been built. Her classes are so peaceful and restorative. I always feel lighter, grounded and energized when finished. I can't say enough wonderful things about Tracy and her classes. She is one of the most genuine people I know. I feel so lucky to have found her. Highly, highly recommend.— L.L. Class member · Google review · September 2026
I take therapeutic yoga classes from tracy. I have a lot of old injuries and getting to use the tools of yoga taught by a knowledgable yoga teacher who is also a physical therapist is a rare find! As a teacher, Tracy can adapt her class to each individual. She is wonderful at vocal and visual cuing. She is also a wealth of knowledge on how everything we are doing is impacting the whole body, from the muscles, fascia down to the organs and lymph system. If you value high levels of care and attention in your yoga classes check this out.— A.S. Class member · Google review · September 2026
Classes are wellness, not treatment
Yoga and mat Pilates at Root are wellness classes — an hour for your body, open to everyone, with no diagnosis or referral needed. They are not physical therapy, and they aren't a treatment plan for any condition. A few classes are shaped around particular bodies (our hypermobility and EDS classes, for instance, keep the pace and the cues appropriate for hypermobile joints), but that's thoughtful class design — not clinical care.
If you're dealing with pain, an injury, or a condition that needs hands-on care, that's the other side of Root: our physical therapy and occupational therapy services, which are billed to insurance and start with a full evaluation. Living with hypermobility or EDS and not sure which you want? Our EDS and hypermobility page explains the clinical side, and you're welcome to do both — just ask us and we'll help you sort out where to start.
